Referees and their terrible decisions

Almost every West Ham fan will know that the ref’s played a collective shocker as far as West Ham were concerned during the 2015/ 16 season.  The Teamtalk website keep a record of controversial decisions and we were famously bottom of the pile with a score of -11 with 7 incorrect decisions going in our favour and 18 incorrect decisions going against us.  The top two clubs benefiting from refereeing decisions were Manchester United and Liverpool with scores of +9 and +8 respectively.  As it appears that these things do not balance themselves out over the course of a season we can only hope that they will do so over several seasons.

This year’s Select Referee’s list has now been published and it contains the usual suspects waving their cards around.  The table below shows the name of the refs retained on the Select List and the number of times they officiated on West Ham matches last season – Keith Stroud who refereed our away game at Watford last year and sent off James Collins is no longer on the list.
